Greek Orthodox Youth Association Mission Statement
To provide an environment where teenagers of Holy Dormition Greek Orthodox
Church can experience, live and learn their Orthodox faith and culture and to build lifelong
relationships with their Greek Orthodox peers. As they grow spiritually and physically, they
will develop a commitment to God, the Greek Orthodox Faith and Church.
GOYA is. . .
the association of Greek Orthodox Youth of America. Our members are
teenagers grades 7-12. It is a place where young people come to learn and grow as Orthodox Christians
in today's society, as well as a place where our youth can socialize and embrace the Greek culture.
Relationships formed through GOYA are often life long.
The Holy Dormition GOYA currently has approximately 15 members and is growing. We
jointly participate with fellow GOYAns from our sister parish of Ypapanti of East Pittsburgh in
many activities including basketball and volleyballs teams.
Monthly schedules and photos are displayed on our bulletin board located in our church
hall next to the bookstore.
Our yearly calendar is being planned with activities including, religious, cultural,
charitable, athletic and social events. Some of these events are:
- Spaghetti Dinner
- Snow Tubing
- Laser Tag/Paintball/Bowling
- Attending Sporting Events
- Feed the Homeless
- Gyro Booth at Oakmont's Light Up Night
- Summer Picnic
- Fireside Chats
- Diocese Basketball Tournaments
- Diocese Volleyball Tournament
