St. Barbara’s Philoptochos

Our Mission: To promote charitable, benevolent and philanthropic outreach; to preserve the sanctity of life and family; and to perpetuate and promote our Orthodox faith and traditions. Oakmont's Saint Barbara's Philoptochos is comprised of adult women from the parish who function as the charitable and philanthropic heart of the parish.

Coffee Hour Sponsors Needed!  Our Sunday coffee hour gives us a chance to visit with friends, but also to exercise our philoxenia, or hospitality, towards our guests and newcomers to the parish, who have just participated in the Divine Liturgy with us.  We are currently in need of hosts for Sunday coffee hours for many dates (see below).  How to sign up to sponsor a coffee hour?  Contact Maria McCrady at (412) 828-7549.  What to purchase:  Coffee Hour Shopping List

Upcoming Events:

October 17 - The members of Philoptochos will be going to Nativity of the Theotokos monastery in Saxonburg. If you are interested in going, please contact Elaine Spiridonakos by October 10th.

October 20 - Philoptochos meeting

October 20 through November 17 - Christmas is just around the corner!!!  On October 20 there will be a table in the hall to participate  in  our annual Christmas card fundraiser that is sent from the board, St Barbara’s Philoptochos and Father Michael & Presbytera Maria.  The cost of the card is $15.  These cards are then sent to the parishioners. The  last day to participate in this fundraiser will be November 17. 

October 23 - We also will be going To Beverly‘s Birthday. This has become an annual tradition for our members. Beverly‘s birthday arranges and has birthday parties for homeless children & those in need who have never had a birthday party. We supply products for the birthdays & filled diaper bags for new moms. Please contact Judy Contis if you are interested in attending.
